Zanzibar Association of People Living with HIV and AIDS (ZAPHA+) was established in Zanzibar as a national network for, by and with People Living with HIV (PLHIV) in Zanzibar in the year 1994 and registered in 1996.
Child rights and protection
ZAPHA+ developed Child Protection and Safeguarding policy to guide its operations. Using Young Reporter’s program ZAPHA+ was able to engage children and young people to promote human rights, gender equality, child protection and participation for PLHIV in Zanzibar. Several cases of human rights nature were referred to legal services assistance, but the outcome of the referral is not known due to the challenges in documentations at all levels.
