About
Zanzibar Association of People Living with HIV and AIDS (ZAPHA+) was established in Zanzibar as a national network for, by and with People Living with HIV (PLHIV) in Zanzibar in the year 1994 and registered in 1996. Currently ZAPHA+ has nearly 3000 members in the Islands of Unguja and Pemba.
ZAPHA+ is the only countrywide PLHIV network organization in Zanzibar and is dedicated to supporting, empowering, and raising the voices of those infected and affected by HIV. ZAPHA+ has grown into an internationally recognized community-based development partner that is organized, led, and managed by and for PLHIV. The NGO has two offices in Unguja and Pemba, and its membership extends to all eleven districts of Zanzibar.
Our Mission
To strengthen ZAPHA+ to reduce the negative impact of diseases, HIV, poverty and social inequality among PLHIV and their families through better coordination, leadership, advocacy and resource mobilization for effective implementation of the planned interventions.
Our Vision
ZAPHA+ vision is to envisaged Zanzibar to be free of any form of Stigma and discrimination, PLHIV are empowered in all spheres including economic and political and are integrated into the society.
